Specialist help for child contact and family issues in UK Family Courts

Problems with Child Contact?

You have probably come to this site because you (or a friend or family member) are having difficulties maintaining a relationship (termed contact) with a child after the breakdown of the relationship between parents. Perhaps you feel your only option is to apply for custody (termed residence) of a child?

You may have decided that the only options available to you are to go to court. In the family courts it is perfectly possible for a lay person to represent themselves, you do not need to employ a solicitor or barrister to make your case.

If you wish, you can conduct your case entirely on your own. Of course, for many people this is a daunting and stressful prospect.

Help is Available

However, you are also entitled to have a helper with you in a court to advise you. These helpers are technically termed McKenzie Friends in family courts.

We specialise in providing this McKenzie help for you at a reasonable price. Our specialists have been through the family courts themselves and understand the problems you face.

What we will do for you

We will give you real-world advice on how best to maintain or establish contact with your children.

Tell us the facts, and we will advise how we think you will best be able to approach your situation. If possible, we will try to help you avoid going to court at all; whether this is through formal mediation or just advising you how you can reach agreement yourself.

If you decide you want to use us you will find our prices are far more reasonable than using solicitors - and because we are offering real-world help we believe we give a better service too. Our partners will be pleased to try to help you with an initial free consultation.

We are a sister site of HR Family Breakdown (for whom we do similar work on behalf of employers).

A High Court judge:

"Mr Barry was granted right of audience, and represented the appellant extremely well. He was articulate and well-prepared. I am grateful for him keeping the strong feelings out of the case."

Jackie, a client:

“I was fuelled with knowledge, and it gave me the confidence to represent myself“

“Meeting Ray was a breath of fresh air. Unlike lawyers, here was someone who had gone through a similar experience and this was a unique aspect of their service.”
